Nashville’s historic Merritt Mansion will be home to a contemporary fine art gallery this spring and summer, free to the public. WedgewoodHouston’s Cëcret by cë gallery, by Nashville-native curator Clarence Edward, will be the first activation of the mansion under Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners' ownership. Conversations between AJ Capital and Edward began back in 2021.

“Our goal has always been to celebrate community and amplify the arts and important voices of Nashville in the Wedgewood Houston neighborhood, which makes Clarence a natural partner,” Ruben Navarro, chief strategy officer at AJ Capital, said in an emailed statement to the Business Journal. “Clarence curates exhibitions and experiences much the same way AJ Capital approaches our projects, focusing on creating a welcoming and energizing environment for everyone. It is important to us to bring that personality to Merritt Mansion.”

"I hope this activation at the Merritt Mansion will encourage more people to recognize the value of maintaining the presence of local businesses and art galleries in historically creative communities like Wedgewood Houston"

Merritt Mansion’s history and blend of “modern design with rustic foundations” piqued Edward’s interest. The activation will draw a broader audience to experience the gallery’s art, including historians, interior designers and art collectors, with the mansion as the backdrop.
